The M14 is a modernized version of the US military’s old main rifle, the M14, commonly known as the EBR. The M14 was an evolved version of the Garand rifle that survived WWII and was deployed in the Vietnam War. The M14 boasted high power and long range, but its overall length of over 1m made it difficult to handle, and it was deemed “useless” in modern warfare, which was dominated by close-quarters combat, such as in the jungles of Vietnam, and was sent to storage by the M16 that replaced it.
However, as times changed and the battlefield moved to the vast deserts of the Middle East, the low power and short range of the M16 became a problem. This problem was solved by “reusing” the M14 that had been sleeping in the warehouse. The EBR (Enhanced Battle Rifle) was a modification of the M14, which was highly acclaimed in this way, for full-scale use in modern warfare.
